Footloose participates every year in dance tournaments for and by students. Like the European Tournament for Dancing Students (ETDS). This event is organized twice a year by a European university, once around the time of Pentecost and once in the autumn. It is a whole weekend of dancing and fun with students from all corners of Europe. Teams come from all kinds of countries, including the Netherlands, Germany, Norway, Belgium, Malta and France.
The tournament consists of a ‘knitting sport’ class, accessible to everyone (up to a maximum level), and an ‘open’ class, in which the advanced level dancers can participate. Saturdays presents the knitting sport in the theme of ballroom, and latin is performed on Sundays. In the evening there are themed or gala parties, where you can dance and party until the early morning hours.
With an ETDS, socializing is the most important and competition results are only a nice extra. With every ETDS people take part in all kinds of courses, from beginners to top class. You are divided into a level that fits well with your dance experiences. And if you do not feel like competing, you can always go along as a supporter or volunteer. They often end up having the most fun of all!
