Introduction
Modern is at Footloose given by an enthusiastic professional teacher, who teaches lessons at every level. At the beginner level the basic movements are taught first, and as the level increases the complexity also increases and in the highest level we also do some partner work. There are 3 levels of Modern within Footloose, so there is a suitable level for everyone. During all lessons, attention is paid to techniques, but also to fun and challenging combinations. In the lessons we also focus a lot on floorwork and we learn about expression and storytelling. So something for everyone!
Modern is a solo style, so you do not need a partner.
The dance
Modern dance originated in the beginning of the twentieth century, when people started looking for different forms of movement than those of classical ballet. The development in Western ballet, the rise of modern dance and jazz dance are developments that for a large part ran parallel. Modern dance developed especially in the 1930s, and is now established in the Dutch dance scene.
Course progress
In order to guarantee a good flow within the modern courses, there are a number of conditions; this means that you have to complete all courses twice a year before moving on to the next level. Exceptions may be in consultation with the teacher. If you have some dance experience, you can discuss with the teacher to find the right level for you.
Teacher – Louise Boitelle
The teacher of the modern courses is Louise Boitelle, a versatile dancer with experience in many styles such from modern to jazz, hip-hop, urban contemporary, floorwork, heels and ballet.
