Introduction
Kizomba is a new dance lesson taught at Footloose. Our lessons will be focussed on the Bachata Sensual. During the Bachata lessons, you dance with a dance partner. It is useful if you bring a dance partner yourself, but you can also find a dance partner at Footloose. For example at our DSTO evening, or during the first two weeks of the course.
The dance style
Bachata is a partner dance style originating from the Dominican Republic. It is danced on four-count music. The dance style is recognisable through its small steps.
Dominican
Bachata Dominican is the original style. It is characterized by its fast footwork, rhythmic hip movements, and playful style.
Sensual
Bachata Sensual, which is taught at Footloose, is version of Bachata, which is characterised by its slower, more fluid movements, and its emphasis on connection and intimacy between partners.
Course progress
Bachata Sensual 1 is for people who have no experience in partner dances. Bachata Sensual 2 is fitted for people who already have experiences with Bachata (Sensual) or have been dancing partner dances for a reasonable amount. If you are not sure what level you are, please come to the DSTO or join the open classes to try out the two levels.
Teacher – Eugene
The Bachata sensual classes are taught by Eugene and his partner.
Eugene danced at Footloose as a student, later returned as substitute at Salsa. He is speicalised in various dance styles such as Salsa, Kizomba and Bachata. His enthousiasm sparks the room when teaching.
He started teaching at Footloose during academic year 2024-2025.
