FAQs

When can you become a member?

Footloose is a student dance association, and therefore only students are allowed to become members. If you are no longer a student, the board must decide upon if you can become a member. In their decision they will consider: A) If you recently graduated or B) if you are already active within Footloose by volunteering, such as working in a committee. You can read the course admission policy here.

Becoming a member, how does it work?

During the whole year you can become a member. You sign up through our online membership form on this page. The membership lasts until the beginning of the next academic year. As a member you can participate in all the activities Footloose organises, such as dance evenings and activity days, and join one of our committees. As a member, you do not have to follow a dance course, as that requires a separate enrollment. As a member, you can also use the dance halls for training. To plan a training, contact the board.

How and when can I enrol for a dance course?

When you are a member of Footloose you can enrol for one or more of our dance courses. This can be done during the first two weeks of each dance semester, during the free try-out weeks. Unfortunately, it is not possible to enrol in a dance course outside of this time period. On rare occasions, it might still be possible, but only if the board allows it. During the enrollment period, there will appear an enrollment page on this website where you can enrol, as long as you are logged in. Outside of the enrollment period, this page will not be accessible. NB! You can only enrol for courses after you are accepted as a member by the board. Thus, after your membership request, keep in mind that you might need to wait a while before you can log in again and fill in the enrollment.

What are the costs?

The costs for memberships and dance courses can be found here.

Is it possible to reserve or rent the dance halls?

The dance hall Orbit can be reserved by members by contacting the secretary (secretary@esdvfootloose.nl) This can only be done for Footloose- and dance-related activities. The hall is not for rent at this time.

I do not receive any emails.

Are you expecting emails but not receiving any? Some email providers, such as Hotmail or the mail service at Fontys, might filter out emails automatically as spam. If this is the case, you might want to use a different email address to receive our emails, such as your Gmail or the email service from the TU/e (these usually don’t filter out our emails). On this page you can change your email address.

Do you receive emails from the website but not our newsletter? Then you might not have subscribed to them during your membership application. Do you want to receive any newsletters? Or not anymore? Contact our secretary at secretary@esdvfootloose.nl.

I don’t have a dance partner, should I worry?

No, do not worry! In our couple dance courses you will eventually need a partner after the first two weeks, but do not worry on beforehand, you will most likely find a partner in time. To help you out, Footloose organises a try-out dance evening (the DSTO), to help dancers find a partner and a dance style they like. With the use of stickers, you can on this evening easily find other dancers in search of a partner for the dance style and level you wish to join. You can also during the first two try-out weeks of the course show up without a partner, as there are plenty of people just like you, still in search of a partner, when the courses begin.

Do you also give external workshops and prom dance lessons?

Yes we do! Do you want to learn a couple dance for your next prom? Are you looking for a fun activity to do with your friends or association? We offer workshops and courses of different levels, adapting to your preferences. Click here for more information.

When can I try out if a dance style is for me?

At the DSTO (Dance Style Try Out) you can try out all classes before a semester starts and there are free courses offered in the beginning of each semester
